Obituary - Arvil Noel Wingfield


Arvil Noel Wingfield, 86, of North Little Rock, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2002, after a long illness.

Born November 3, 1915, in Okolona, he lived in North Little Rock after serving in World War II. He retired as a conductor for Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1976 after a career of 44 years.

He was known for his generosity, sense of duty and honor, and devotion to family and church. He was church treasurer for many years and later served as usher when he moved to Highway Baptist Church. He devoted many hours to his large garden and shared freely of its bounty.

He was preceded in death by spouses, Hattie Crook Wingfield, and Mayne Gregory Wingfield.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Noel and Charlene Wingfield of North Little Rock; daughter, Julia Ann Stroud of Higden; step-daughter, Gracie Marie Stracener of North Little Rock; sister, Mary Virginia Brandon; and brother, J.W. Wingfield, both of Gurdon; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
