Obituary - Clifton Wingfield
Clifton “Son” Wingfield, 81, of Waskom, Texas, died on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Longview, Texas.
He was born in Gurdon, Aug. 3, 1923, the son of Hoyt Matthew Wingfield and Ada Virgie Kendrick Wingfield.
He attended school in Smithton, and later married Angela Maria Nightgale on Aug. 24, 1961, in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Wingfield drove a truck for McClain’s Trucking Company and previously for Roadway Freight. He served his country as a U.S. Naval Seabee during World War II and the Battle of Midway.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Angela Wingfield of Waskom, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law; Melton Wingfield and Linda of Tulsa, Okla., and Clifton Glen Wingfield of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter and son-in-law; Linda Sue Owens and Bill of Tulsa; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris Bradley Martin and Carroll of Gurdon; Gwenda Sue Norwood of Hot Springs; and one brother, Harold Alex Wingfield.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Dorothy Louise Murphy; and one brother, Alton Eugene Wingfield.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Restland Cemetery in Waskom, under the direction of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the funeral home.
David Bowlin officiated. Pallbearers were: John Grable, Michael English, Kenny Tramel, Mel Cook, Jim Williams and Michael Higgins.
